Only 14 Malaria cases detected so far in 2025

The Anti-Malaria Campaign of the Health Ministry says 14 cases of Malaria have been detected so far in Sri Lanka.

According to the campaign, the patients include Sri Lankans working abroad, pilgrims and people who have migrated abroad.

A total of 62 Malaria patients were detected in 2023 and 38 patients in 2024, it said.

The Anti-Malaria Campaign further revealed that symptoms of Malaria include fever, headache, body aches, and sometimes breathing difficulties. 

Meanwhile, the Anti-Malaria Campaign held a possession under the theme ‘Say No To Malaria’ to coincide with World Malaria Day, commemorated today. 

The procession was held to emphasise prevention and awareness, especially for those travelling to malaria-endemic regions. (News9)
